Hussein is the driving force behind Yazino, a company built on the belief that the next generation of social games will be based around real-time synchronous experiences where friends and like-minded people can play, compete, and socialise anytime, from anywhere in the world. In this interview Hussein gives us a preview of his session “Monetization: Understanding the Revenue Models”.
How is your topic relevant to the gaming industry?
Yazino is the first company with a technology platform capable of serving both social gaming and online gambling simultaneously. We started building our ‘social casino’ product several years ago, far before anyone else could even conceive of what that meant. Yazino is disrupting the tired gambling industry with much needed innovation, introducing features like social connectivity and mobile platforms. We’re doing very well with it, with monetization of our players being significantly higher than that of regular social games, and engagement levels the gambling industry would be very envious of.
What’s the one thing you hope delegates get out of your session?
I hope that members of the gambling industry in particular will pay attention to the coming from combining social gaming and gambling in a single platform. This model monetises better than either one alone.
Why is this subject something you are passionate about?
I think that social gaming is the single most important opportunity, and possibly threat, to the online and traditional gambling industries. The market is changing. Technology and consumer expectations are changing. There’s a huge shake up coming, and we hope that gambling companies start to understand the need to embrace and to be part of social gaming. The ones that do, and soon, will be stronger and more successful than ever before.
Why choose the Social Gambling Conference as your platform to voice your findings?
When I founded Yazino in 2009, one hundred percent of people that I spoke to laughed about the opportunity I foresaw. Now there are industry events like the Social Gambling Conference dedicated solely to social casino and social gambling. It is very satisfying to be an early adopter and to bring a new, big vision to life in an industry that is not innovating at all. I would like to share and exchange ideas with other like-minded people in the industry and also to explore partnerships in social and gambling, which this event is ideal for.
Hussein will be speaking on November 16th at the Social Gambling Conference.
